Yes to Dry Needling, Within scope of practice of Physical Therapy.

Dry needling is a post graduate skill learned by therapists, and is well within the knowledge base and scope of our practice. To date, several state boards of PT have approved use of dry needling as a method of treatment by therapists. Virginia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Louisiana, Nebraska specifically for Intramuscular Manual Therapy. Arizona's Physical Therapy Association UPDATED their definition of Dry Needling to the following to include : "

It is the position of the Arizona Physical Therapy Association that dry needling for the management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions is consistent with the scope of practice of licensed physical therapists in Arizona. Dry Needling is a skilled intervention performed by a physical therapist that uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying neural, muscular and connective tissues for the evaluation and management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments."
