I strongly Against Physical Therapy (PT) practice dry needling in illegal way.

Dry needling is belong to Acupuncture that  that involve insertion the acupuncture needle into the human body. It is usually need 3 years (at least 3000 hours) professional training in American and 5 years (at least 5000 hours) training in China. Even the MD in American need 300 hours training to apply for the Acupuncture license.

Now the PT only need 2 days training (15 hours) to get the certification of dry needling training and practice the acupuncture (so call 'dry needle') without acupuncture license. there is a great risk to American people.

If a PT want to practice acupuncture or so call "dry needling" they should go through the professional training and pass the NCCAOM examination. Then they can apply for the acupuncture license.

NJ state just denial the application of dry needling practice by PT for it is obviously out of the scope of PT and the 2 days training is too short to practice acupuncture.

Sincerely,

Minlin Liu, LAC
