I strongly Against Physical Therapy (PT) practice dry needling by very short training time.
Dry needling is belong to Acupuncture that that involve insertion the acupuncture needle into the human body. It is usually need 3 years (at least 3000 hours) professional training in american and 5 years (at least 5000 hours) training in China. even the MD in american need 300 hours training to obtain the Acupuncture licence.
Now the PT only need 2 days training (15 hours) to get the certification of dry needling traing. If in this way to practice the dry needling that involve insertion the acupuncture needle into the human body, there is a great risk to american people.
If a PT want to practice acupuncture or so call "dry needling" they should go through the professional training and pass the NCCAOM examination.
NJ state just denile the application of dry needling practice by PT for it is obviously out of the scope of PT and the 2 days training is too short to practice acupuncture.
