This is zhaoyu Jia, DPT. I am against dry needling for PT unless they go for another 3 years master program. Reasons as follow:

Acupuncture has been practice over 3000 years. It took comprehensive  diagnostic and  treatment analysis, not just dry needling . It is under NCCAOM  board in USA. iT deserves respects from all western specialty . We dont just practice EMG simplly because it doesnot seem hard to us, we leave it to professional PMR  doctor.  What if acupuncture claim modality and joint mobilization for their scope of practice just because it doenot seem hard to master it?

Acupuncture has 4 years undergraduation study, 3 more years for master program, more years for doctor degree. It is hard to imagine someone just go practice Such cpmprehensive program  on public without official study.  It can jepardize organ puncture or even fatal to someone life because it set yin yang inbalance. 

I have study tacupuncture program from 2012. There are so many physical therapists study this program in my school. For those who want dry needling, I recommend the official master program study before practice on public.
