PT should be allowed to perform dry needling

PTs are trained at the doctoral level to treat myofascial trigger points.  Dry needling is a logical addition to our practice, and one that will allow patients to receive the highest quality care for the needs.  The musculoskeletal basis, treatment theories and physical therapy perspective on patient care make dry needling distinct from acupuncture, depsite a similarity in instrumentation.  We do receive sufficient training to promote pateitn safety during care.
