Why Dry Needling = Acupuncture?

Why Dry Needling = Acupuncture?

  • The needles and needling techniques used in Dry Needling (DN) and acupuncture are one in the same.
  • TrPs (Trigger Points) used by DN are just acupoints or Ashi points coined from ancient China.
  • Thirdly, the mechanism of DN and acupuncture are one in the same .

Based on the above reasons and the definition of acupuncture (involving the insertion of extremely thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body), DN is a form of contemporary acupuncture, which can also be referred as TrP acupuncture.
