Abuse of Power

The comment period for this unwarranted and undemocratic action by the governor should be extended to the required 6-week period to allow citizens to voice their views.  Stifling public dissent is un-American.  As for the measure itself, it is the height of political cynicism to enact this gun ban as an "emergency regulation" using emergency authorities.  What on earth is the emergency?  What tangible reason justifies the infringement of Constitutional (2nd Amendment) rights of Virginians?  Why is the legislative process being circumvented?  The governor has no legitimate answer to these questions.  Rule by emergency decree and executive fiat was a political tactic I never expected in the United States or the Commonwealth of Virginia, but it has become commonplace in Washington and now in Richmond.  The silver lining on this otherwise dark cloud over the Commonwealth is that the governor (and the attorney general through his executive action on concealed carry permits) have shown the voters their true character and political agenda.
