NO DRY NEEDLING!!

My Name is Mona Lee Yuan, I'm a licensed acupuncturist and physical therapist. I'm ashamed to even admit I'm a PT based on the fact that I went into the field to help people and practice with integrity by maintaining good professional judgement, PT's attempt at DN demonstrates poor and unethical judgment. I also went to school to get my MS in acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, it took me 5 years with 2050 didactic hours and 410 clinic hours of hands on patient treatment. PT's get 50 hours of training to perform DN, Need I say more?  PT's needle on the upper trapezius coinciding with the acu point GB 21, this point is contraindicated during pregnancy because acupuncturists use it to help promote lactation, promoting prolactin can cause a miscarriage if a woman is pregnant!  Does PT's know this? NO, but as an acupuncturist I do know this!  As a PT we took an oath "TO DO NO HARM", totally contradictory to our oath!  Yes, if a PT wants to perform acupuncture then do it the right way like I did and go to school!  The combination of both fields is a powerful tool when performed properly. This is not a matter of "turf wars", it's a matter of public safety and I'm ashamed that PT's are ignoring this!
