Dry needling is not the physical therapist's (PT's) scope of practice. PT cannot just perform acupuncture needling by changeing its name to whatever here is called dry needling. If a physical therapist really wants to perform needling, he or she can complete equivalent acupunture training course and pass the acupuncture board exam same as I did (I am a Registered Nurse). This is a very improtant public safety issue in this country, and it should be seriously concerned.
