Dry needling is just another name for a specific style of acupuncture, which has already been performed for thousands of years.  Acupuncture or dry needling should not be performed by anyone except an Licensed Acupuncturists or East Asian Medicine Practitioners.  If a PT or anyone want to be able to perform dry needling legally, he or she should be required to go through the whole acupuncture schooling and obtain an Acupuncture license.
