I am doing clinical studies on acupuncture in the school of Chinese medicine, the University of HongKong. According to my knowledge and experience, dry needling only consist a small portion of practice and efficacy of acupuncture, which involves a comprehensive understanding and guideline for diagnosis and treatment for pain and many other medical conditions. It is unfair and unsafe for PT to legally practice dry needling (as an alternative name of a subset of acupuncture), using acupuncture needles, with only 50 hours training. This will not only risk the health of our patients, but also hurt the reputation of the whole acupuncture field.
