Support Physical Therapist Use of Dry Needling

I have been using dry needling as a treatment technique in my physical therapy practice for 4 years with incredible success.  I have seen improvements since having this tool that I wouldn't have achieved without it.  Dry needling is not accupuncture as we state to every patient that receives this technique.  We treat trigger points in the muscle which has a positive effect regarding our patient's pain, mobility, and strength.  When educated appropriately under the guidelines that the VA Board of Medicine has outlined, there should be no reason to stop physical therapists from using dry needling as a treatment technique.
