Political pandering endangers the safety of Virginians

The proposed regulation is bad for Virginians and pushing this ban in the name of "public safety" will accomplish exactly the opposite. Nearly all of the public mass shootings in the last 50+ years have occurred in these gun-free zones which the Governor now seeks to create more of. All Virginians deserve the right to defend themselves from violent people who don't care about "no guns" signs and restrictions. The people prone to violent behavior are not going to pay attention to any such restrictions while those that are not prone to violent behavior will be left defenseless. Since even off-duty police officers are restricted from carrying in these locations this will further leave people in these areas defenseless. The proposed restriction needs to be rescinded instead of being made permanent.
