Oppose Gun-Free-Zones for public safety

Good Afternoon,

I would like to those those involved in setting up this mechanism for me to express my concerns, and those who are involved with reading, and processing the public opinion to better this state. I would also like to thank those in public office for their efforts to protect American's and their rights, even if we disagree on how.

I apoopose the push for the increase in gun free zones in this state. Historically speaking 92% of all mass killings occur in gun free zones, and the reason can be seen simply. Laws are meant to deter crime by increasing the cost of the action. Someone who may be inclined to steal should be detered by the penalty of being caught. But when someone has made the active decision to commit homicide, let alone multiple counts of it, they are willing to accept the cost of 25 to life. In fact, most of these cases end with premeditated suicide.

How can we honestly expect some jail time and a fine to deter someone who already intends on dying?

Gun free zones do nothing to stop these people as they are already willing to break stricter laws. All it does instead is stop innocent people from being able to defend themselves. People are being left unarmed and unable to defend them selves from killers and rapists all because of an imaginary benefit of gun-free-zones.

In much the same way anyone would laugh at creating "rape free zones" to stop sexual assault, i would like my representatives and legislators to reject the notion that a gun free zone is anything shy of a facade.
