Make sure citizens can vote - it is *the* fundamental right

Voting is a fundamental right - frankly THE fundamental right - to citizens in the democracy that the United States strives to be each year that we hold elections. Inasmuch as we really are a democracy, small bureaucratic hurdles should not take away a person's right to vote. Particualrly since "voter fraud" in this day and age is largely a bogeyman argument promulgated only by those who seek to disenfranchise some of their fellow citizens who they disagree with politically.

I, a citizen and voter of the Commonwealth of Virginia, applaud the Department of Election and the State Board of Elections for their revisions to Virginia's Voter Registration form.

Far too often, qualified voters are disenfranchised because of technical issues with the voter registration form. The proposed changes are an important step to addressing this problem.

I strongly support the proposed changes and hope members of the State Board of Elections will ratify them following the public comment period.

Thank you for considering my comment.
