Changes to Virginia voter registration that do not require people to check boxes confirming that they are citizens of this country who are eligible to vote provide a clear invitation to non-citizens and those rendered ineligible due to felony convictions to vote illegally. That seems to be the point of the revised application procedures, made obvious by the further provision that any specific information that the applicant is NOT a citizen or eligible to vote can be overidden by the applicant. These provisions will cripple registrars in their efforts to ensure hones voting in Virginia. Our Governor should be ashamed for trying to slip these changes through the system.
