If concerned that eligible voters will get rejected 'simply because they forgot to check off a box or two' (about their citizenship and criminal history) MAKE THOSE QUESTIONS MORE PROMINENT, because they are important! That would equally resolve the problem, without making a new one. While taking the questions off the list gives falls impression that non-citizens and citizens of foreign countries, or felons whose voting rights have not been restored can vote in our elections, and would therefore open a back door for fraud.
