Respect for Women, Privacy, and Choices

Too often, emotional opinion is turned into politics that have little connection to good or necessary practices.  Women should be afforded safe and reliable means of controlling their reproductive lives.  If a women choses to terminate a pregnancy, that is a decision for her and her physician.  There are many reasons that others might come into this relationship, but the core is that a woman must be allowed to make this decision freely and then to have safe means to act.    Further, women's health clinics provide much more than abortions. That is the least frequently used medical service, I warrent.  Family planning, pregnancy prevention, health exams, and many other good and necesssary services are threatened simply because a minority wishes to prevent any and all abortions.  Decisions such as licensing a health center must be based on sciene, need, and finances, not the shouts of those who oppose abortion.  Please, repeal the TARP and use sound, science-based protocols for licensing women's health care centers.
