Virginia is becoming the Mississippi of the Mid-Atlantic

The Targeted Regulations for Abortion Clinics does not serve the women of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is politically motivated to serve the ideology of the majority political party here in Virginia. You can claim otherwise, but Virginians and the rest of the nation aren't buying it. The manipulation of this legislation through amendment, and the subsequent pressure put on a supposedly independent Board of Health, fools no one. No one at all. This is not about good public health policy, or about documented issues that need resolution. This legislation solves a problem that has not been proven to exist. It flies in the face of what empirical data DOES show about how the availability of these clinics as IMPROVED the health and well being of women in Virginia - especially in rural areas among low income populations.  Continued insistence on the "end around" maneuver to deny women their Constitutional rights granted by Roe v Wade will result in a backlash that will last for a decades. We are not a third world country and the women of Virginia will not continue to tolerate being treated like second class citizens.  What has happened here is unconscionable and we will not be silent about it.
