If self-regulation worked, no medical clinic would need to be regulated by a higher authority.  I wish it did work, because I think we too often tend to over-regulate things today.  Unfortunately this is not the case with abortion clinics, and most need standards and expectations held before them in order to maintain a high quality of service.  For the sake of the women and children that these clinics see, regulation is absolutely necessary.  Money can easily corrupt a center into cutting corners where patient safety and health are concerned.  If these centers are needing to close because they can't afford to meet basic patients' health and safety standards, then they are very likely cutting corners that jeopardize health and safety already.  Please regulate the things that are needed to protect us!
