Regulations for Licensure of Abortion Facilities

What legitimate reason could there be for not subjecting abortion clinics to the same health and safety standards as hospitals?  Abortion is clearly a medical procedure that requires the skills of a doctor and the facilities of a hospital operating room.  These regulations are not addressing a hypothetical concern.  Women have died because of botched abortions performed in un-regulated clinics (an egregious case is documented here: http://3801lancaster.com/).

It is ironic that some of those commenting on these regulations profess great concern about women being forced to seek unsafe back alley abortions, yet seem determined  to see that nothing be done to prevent back alley conditions from developing within clinics themselves.

For the government not to have had rules like this in place from the beginning was at best an oversight.  It would be irresponsible not to enact these rules now.
