TRAP Regulations for abortion clinics

Abortions are one of the safest procedures around, and there has been no history of problems in the abortion clinics that have been operating safely in Virginia for over forty years.  By putting forth regulations that will cause many of these clinics to shut down, thereby removing access to safe abortions for many women, dangerous procedures will take us back to the days of back alley abortions, safetypins, infections of all sorts. Instead of making women safer, you will be making them much less safe.  Furthermore, babies will be born who do not have mothers who are in a position to take care of them, yet I see no accompanying procedures to provide for expanded adoption and foster care services or for assistance to mothers who do not have the capacity to feed and shelter their babies.

In addition, these clinicsas they stand provide low cost and /or free screening for cancer and other reproductive problems, especially needed by young, low-income women. There appear no evident plans to provide theses services in an alternate service plan.

It appears that the real reason for these regulations is to abolish abortion entirely, a vast expansion of the "big brother" sort of governance that Republicans claim to abhor.
