The State of Virginia has once again had a knee jerk reaction to some foreseen problem. If the problem truly exists then is there not a regulatory commission to handle a few bad instructors? Why punish the whole lot of instructors for the inability of the commission to enforce the guidelines. When I first became an instructor I was told that there was a shortage of EMT instructors. This "New Regulation" will make it near impossible for me to maintain my certification. Not only are you unfairly mandating new training you are not providing an adequate source for said training, this will no doubt begin to possibly cost a great deal of money and time to maintain my current cert.  This will, I have no doubt in my mind; seriously undermine the ability to keep instructors. As said in numerous other posts, this will have an untoward effect. Instead of getting quality instruction, which is an admirable goal, you will lose instructors, maybe the ones that need to go, but definitely you will lose the high quality you wish to keep because we just can't meet the new requirements. Have you thought this thru? Have you just made this new requirement before the infrastructure was in place? Either way this requirement is excessive and unnecessary. I for one will have to possibly give up trying to keep my certification, and that bothers me because I enjoy teaching very much. I am really interested in where this comes from, the who’s, why’s and reasons for this badly thought out requirement.
