Put Kids first, not politics

To whom it may concern,

Decisions on the adoption of children in need of families should be based solely on the ability of the family to provide a loving home, not on the sexual orientation of the parents.  There are too many children in need of a familial support structure to discriminate against any potential adoptive parents.  While the state may not recognize the rights of LGBT constituents in regard to marriage equality, the State Board of Social Services has the opportunity to end the discimination and mistreatment of  this class of tax-paying citizens.    Gays and lesbians pay your salary, they assist in paying for these kids in foster care- why should they be denied the right to become adoptive parents?
It is not that difficult to recognize that gay and lesbian parents are just as, if not more capable of raising children.   All one must do is open their hearts, free themselves from unjust hate and recognize that gay and lesbian parents are no different than "straight" parents.  The choice to raise a child has nothing to do with sexual preferences, it has to do with choosing to be responsible for the welfare and upbringing of another human being.  The only driving force behind that decision is love.  The decision to discriminate against "Gay" adopters has no relevant statute for enforcement- any child raised in foster care, adoption situations, etc will have issues to overcome.  Kids raised in households with their biological parents have issues to overcome.  I feel that gay and lesbian parents have a more firm handle on how to raise a well balanced child, one that sees beyond stereotypes, race, sex, disability, sexual preference and a multitude of other differences that make up the human race.
Homosexuality is found in over 450 species, homophobia is only found in one.  Please do not continue this absurd pursuance of discrimination and make the choice to allow ALL loving parents the opportunity to care for Virginia's children in need.
