The Real Issue

This debate is not about the wisdom (and real dangers) of raising children in same-sex households; nor is it about the qualifications of same-sex couples in raising children; nor is it about the power of the state to resolve the question. This debate is about religious freedom. Individuals arguing that a principle of anti-discrimination in favor of homosexuals justifies the imposition of laws that compel faith-based organizations to violate their conscience is illusory and near-sighted. What they fail to understand is that, while advocating for the end of same-sex discrimination, they discriminate against religious people of every calibre. It would be of the same effect if non-religious people were forced to attend church every Sunday.

In response to the few previous posts--Civil government was never responsible for bringing love into the world; it never undertook to care for the hungry or the orphan or the widow -- that mission has been realized by the church through the ages. It is by the church's example that civil government has learned to love thy neighbor. Now it wishes to evict its teacher.
