Anti-discrimination in adoptions

We have come to a point where we have to let go of old, out-dated laws.  Do we believe that gays and lesbians have to prove themselves "fitter" than non-gays in order to adopt?  Why should this even be an issue in today's society.  I look forward to a time when adoptive children can go to loving homes with loving parents, and gender is no longer a qualifier.

Isn't it time to look at the fitness of the individual as to their character?  Gayness is not a test of fitness.  Ethics and morality are.  The morality of an individual is not bound by gender preference or gender, period.  We are all exactly the same genus and species.  If being brought up in a same sex marriage means that even one child has a good chance for a good life, then that is what we need to seek.

Thank you.
