a sad day when the educators of our children take total control over their future

Hello:

My name is Robert Dawson Borum and I have two girls ages 10 and 14 who have CHARGE Syndrome and are Deaf / Blind. My wife and I removed our two girls from the Virginia Beach School system this last year because the school failed to provide them with the opportunity to have a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment with supports and services.

Even with the current regulations that are Governing the Special Eduction Programs, the VDOE and the local schools make up their own rules disregarding the law. They have discriminated and segregated our two children in the School System and now, with the new proposed Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children With Disabilities in Virginia [8 VAC 20   80]. It can only get worse for the children and the parents who stand up to fight for a free and appropriate public education. .

It will be a sad day when you allow the educators of our children to take full control over their future and allow them to be immune to accountability.

There are many many issues we could discuss but this one is on the table now.

Thank you

Robert Dawson Borum
