Revise Stormwater Regulations to promote redevelopment, not sprawl!
I believe that Virginia may be wise to duplicate successful programs used in other more progressive areas of the country. One example to consider is Portland, Oregon’s urban growth boundary. While not perfect, it can be argued that this has successfully re-created the density our cities need to survive and prosper.
The current Stormwater Regulations and their associated requirements for 20% reduction of predevelopment levels will quite effectively eliminate redevelopment in the Commonwealth’s urban areas; something that I think we can all agree is beneficial for our region.
