Criminals will always have guns, and passing laws to take them away from citizens won't solve anything. If you passed a law to make it illegal to be crazy, ask yourself would that work? I think you should be more worried about the citizen not having a gun to protect the people if and when it's ever needed. We have the right to defend ourselves, and if gun control works then explain Chicago.
