From a Virginia Citizen - I am opposed to this ill-conceived regulation

Creating impediments so law abiding citizens have difficulty when exercising their Second Amendment rights probably seems like a good idea ... especially given the public outcry that 'something needs to be done' to address terrorism and mass shootings in our country. However, let's be very clear: such reactions pandering to media-frenzy have been less than successful and, in fact, are actually counterproductive with the respect to the end goal. I have raised four children in the Commonwealth and have always respected the law and tried to set a good example for others.  For instance, while out and about with my family I avoid visiting places where I am prohibited from exercising my right to carry concealed. The practical upshot of this is that I have removed myself and my family from those situations where criminals and/or terrorists know they have an easy target since folks are not able to defend themselves and their families. I know I haven't eliminated all such risks, but for those situations where I can control this variable, I have done so.

Please do not reduce my ability to continue to exercise my constitutionally guaranteed right to self protection and the free exercise thereof.  This type of knee-jerk reaction to tragedies can be summed up with an oft-used phrase that's true and cannot be gainsaid with any fact-based data: Disarming honest, law abiding citizens won't stop criminals and terrorists from killing and murdering.
