Banning guns in state agencies will deny Virginia citizens the basic right to self-defense

The Governor’s proposed regulation to ban guns in state agencies is a fraudulent solution looking for a problem.  We have had no shootings in state agencies.  This prohibition on those with a concealed handgun permit is entirely unjustified and needlessly endangers innocent lives.  Disarming good citizens, the only ones who will obey the prohibition, does not make them safer.  It will only create additional preferred targets for terrorists, criminals and crazies.

If the Governor thinks this is such a great idea he should also give up his armed security detail.

Further, the General Assembly has never granted the Governor the power to make such a regulation.  This is required constitutionally.

The regulations should not be approved and the emergency regulation should be withdrawn.
