women's clinic regulations

To the members of the Board of Health:

As overseers of health care in the Commonwealth, it is your duty to make decisions based on empirical evidence. In the absence of medical evidence supporting a need for further regulation of women's health clinics, I implore you to lay aside any personal biases, look at the data before you, and reject the proposed regulations.

These regulations have NO MEDICAL BENEFIT.

These regulations are not supported by physicians or other health care providers.

These regulations are not supported by a majority of Virginians.

These regulations decrease access to care wanted and needed by women.

These regulations will increase financial hardship for women seeking care, further decreasing access to care. This will disproportionately affect women of color, those without insurance, and those living in poverty.

Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures and these clinics do not require further regulation. Overregulation will not only limit access to pregnancy termination services, but also to cancer screenings, education, STD testing, and family planning education/services.

Please make a decision based purely on the medical science available to you. As public servants, that is the only ethical way to carry out your jobs.

Thank you.
