Simply put, if this proposal for model policies for the treatment of transgender students in Virginia public schools had been the operating policy for the treatment of transgender students in the Kentucky public schools that I attended, I would have had a much less stressful time coming to know myself as transgender, would have had a more fruitful time in school, and been a more successful student because of it.
I firmly believe the well-researched and evidence based positions this proposal motivates for it's model policies would improve outcomes for all students; even cis students benefit when their Trans peers can know themselves thoroughly and publicly, without fear or professional, academic, or social friction.
