This proposal undercuts open and honest conversation between parents and their children. It also hinders parents from active involvement in the life of their child at school.
The proposed guidance document violates the presumption of parental autonomy in Virginia. Code Sec. 1-240.1 provides that a parent has the fundamental right to make decisions concerning the upbringing, education and care of the parent’s child.
The proposed regulations provide no accommodations for students and teachers whose sincerely and deeply held religious beliefs and understanding of gender and human sexuality are not in accord with the views underlying the proposed policies.
Protect the privacy and human rights of all students by keeping boys out of girls' locker rooms and protect their God-given identity. There will be no way to protect students under those new policies. They will have a "right" to enter any restroom or locker room they choose. It will be impossible to protect the innocence of students.
Let gender questions be handled by parents, not the school system. Stop confusing the majority of students.
