Poorly thought out Knee-Jerk Actions

I recently moved to Virginia in part to escape the unenlightened knee-jerk actions of "progressive" politicians in the name of public safety.  In the name of safety and "for the children" has long been the soap box chant for poorly thought out and detrimental changes to our society with long lasting consequences.  In the 1920's the chant was against alcohol and its banning through prohibition led to the explosive growth of organized crime, illegal alcohol production and entire government bodies dedicated to erradicating the "scourge" of alcohol at great expense to the tax payer.  Instead, let's try enforcing the gun regulations that are on the books, start the debate on how to handle the mentally ill, improve economic opportunities for most needy, and look at ways to take weapons of all kinds away from criminals rather than good, honest people.
