This regulation is dangerous to public safety Why deny Virginia citizens right to self-defense?

This is unacceptable. It is un Constitutional. You are infringing upon the basic inherant human right of self defense.  Why are you attempting to deny law abiding citizens the right to protect themselves, their family, their property? How can you justify your actions in the persecution and suppression of law abiding citizens and their rights? Especially since you know that it will not deter criminals from getting or using weapons such as guns, knives, hammers, bats, clubs etc.

It will not stop a criminal hell bent and determined in committing a heinous crime such as murder.

How do you intend to hold criminals accountable? How are you going to keep weapons (guns, knives, bats etc) out of the hands of criminals?

What are you doing to enforce current gun laws? When are you going to start enforcing current gun laws? When are you actually going to hold criminals accountable for their action when they commit crimes with firearms or other weapons (knives, bats, fists, etc). You are only preventing a rape victim, an assault victim, a victim being attacked or robbed or beaten by criminals from fightng back. Law enforcement will not get to a victim's home or a victim fast enough to save their life. The first respnder is the victim or law abiding citizen that intervenes. Police will only be able to investigate the aftermath of an attack not prevent it. Do not oppress the individual right to self defense. Do not persecute law abiding citizens.  Remember this A government for the people by the people. I believe that is stated in the Bill of Rights. Voters will exercise our rights to vote you out of office. Shame on you and this transgression will not be forgotten during the next elections.

You want fixes and solutions try this: Review of and enforcement of current gun laws are the answer not persecution of law abiding citizens.

Enforcing prison sentances of violent offenders is the answer. When criminals barred from owning firearms are found in possession of firearms prosecute them. If they used a firearm in the commission of a crime then prosecute them and don't give them parole or plea bargains,or early release for good behavior. They committed a violent crime with a weapon (firearm, bat, knife etc)
