Do not make Government building and occupants easy targets for evildoers!

Do not accept the mistaken belief that Gun Free Zones afford safety.  They are magnets for those seeking to inflict violence.

The proposed regulation will have the opposite of the intended affect by playing into the hands of terrorists, violent criminals and the criminally insane.  There have been no shootings in Virginia state agencies.  This prohibition is entirely without any justification.  It needlessly and recklessly endangers innocent lives.

The proposed regulation is a solution for which there is no problem.  It endangers state employees, law abiding citizens, and the innocent by making state buildings a safe zone for terrorists, criminals, and the criminally insane to conduct their evil and savage actions.

Additionally, the Governor lacks the authority to impose this regulation.  If the General Assembly wanted the Governor to have such authority, they would have granted it to him explicitly, as is required by the Virginia Constitution.

This regulations should not be approved and the emergency regulation should be withdrawn.

Finally, I request the comment period be extended for 30 days.
