Response to TRAP Laws

Hello,

My name is Erin Longbottom and I am 23 years old, a woman, and a Virginia resident. I am speaking out against the passage of the unnecessary and out of bounds TRAP laws. These regulations have been created and passed without regards to input from the medical community, which has deemed them having no medical purpose. I am deeply worried, troubled, and offended that Virginia lawmakers would try to pass a bill that is a thinly veiled anti-choice attack and pass it off as some kind of concern for the well being of people who are seeking and recieving abortions. No one is fooled by this, and it digusts me that the government is putting this much time and effort into the invasion of my privacy and rights. Not only that, but these centers provide more than just abortions. They provide family planning resources, health check-ups, prenatal care, and more. Forcing these centers to close will only hurt the communities they serve, and in turn, hurt Virginia.

Cowardly passing a bill like this will not only hurt residents but place us alongside states like South Dakota, North Dakota, and Missouri who are currently being mocked for their backwards and frankly unconstitutional efforts to outlaw abortion. Your "morals" (which by the way, look up when abortion was outlawed, it was until the late 19th century and churches were totally okay with it until then) have no place in government, and in telling me what services I can and cannot recieve.

Respectfully,

Erin Longbottom
