NO to Regulations for Licensure of Abortion Facilities
The proposed regulations for Abortion Facilities are too restrictive and unnecessary. If the Legislature wishes to require these upgraded regulations for new construction of hospitals to ALL stand-alone facilities, including plastic surgery, outpatient surgery, dental surgery, etc. it might be constitutional. However, these proposed regulations have obviously been passed to either limit or entirely eliminate all abortions in the Commonwealth of Virginia. To focus on only one aspect of health care is contrary to the Commonwealth's purview in protecting its citizens from unhealthy procedures.
As most of these facilities also provide low-income people with information and treatment of all aspects of sexual and reproductive health these regulations would essentially close the only place(s) where many citizens can obtain this needed service. These procedures are protected under the U. S. Constitution as a right. No government has the right to interfere with the physician/patient contract which is what these proposed regulations would accomplish.
The Legislature of the Commonwealth of Virginia has gone too far and the political bullying by the Attorney General, in particular, and the Governor to forbid the "grandfathering in" of existing clinics is the height of outrageousness.
I say, "NO," to all of this: Stay out of consultations with my doctor, keep your hands off my body and out of my bedroom completely!
