I'm an 81 year old widow who remembers when abortions were illegal; the illegality did not stop desperate women and girls from getting abortions.  Mostly, these abortions were performed by a completely unprofessional person in a back-alley setting.  Some women suffered physical harm, and some even died, as a result of trusting their bodies to these quacks.  Even so, young girls and poor women, many married, were most desperate not to add another child to their families.  I have never known a woman to choose an abortion lightly; the decision was made after agonizing over her choices. Let's not go back in time; let's move forward and keep safe abortions by a qualified medical provider available to those who choose to have one.  Ridiculous, unnecessary restrictions on abortion providers, on clinics, and intrusive procedures on women designed to shame them shames all of us in Virginia.
