To the Board of Health:
The regulations surrounding TARP threaten the continued availability of safe, legal first-trimester abortion and preventive reproductive health care in multiple locations throughout the state. Further, these rules that are hospital like have nothing to do with anything except to make it harder for women to receive the health care they need.
Please look at the science involved and leave your opinions, be they religious in nature or just personal opinions concerning right and wrong, out of the equation. In other words, let’s follow the 1st Amendment of our Constitution concerning separation of church and state; or, the government has to remain neutral on matters of religion. It is my hope that the regulations will be amended to be based purely on medicine and science and should not impede women's access to essential health care. Isn’t it WAY passed time to let the person involved make their own decisions or are we going to keep in place the paternalism of the 1950s. The times are changing and so should we or we will be the laughing-stock of the civilized world, if we are not already. Trust women to make decisions of a personal nature to them not a bunch of old-fashioned men.
Thank you for your time,
Louis Ogden
