Description of Proposed Guidance Document Changes

The Field Operations Manual is a new document, arising from a comprehensive update and compilation of existing policy and working memos covering sanitary surveys, disinfection of groundwater sources, disinfection of surface water sources, Virginia’s Optimization Program, status reporting of waterworks during emergency situations, assessments, sanitary defects and corrective actions, seasonal waterworks, treatment technique requirements, contaminants of emerging concern and health advisories, consumer confidence reports, oversight of water main breaks, information sharing on Legionella in drinking water, notices of alleged violation, public notification, emergency notices, data entry and SDWIS basics, and hauling water. This Field Operations Manual voids the following Office of Drinking Water guidance documents: 259, 276, 327, 547, 574, 657, 680, 704, 740, 743, 769, 782, 801, 802, 810, 817, 834, 835, 841, 842, 844, 850, 851, 859, 884, 886, 894, 897, 900, 902, 906, 908, 914, 915, and 918, as well as ODW Working Memos 743 and 900.
