Banning Conversion Therapy is an act of Suicide Prevention

According to the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, the American Psychological Association, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Assocation, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and others, Conversion Therapy is strongly linked to depression, anxiety, poor identity and mental development, and suicide.

One of my close friends underwent Conversion Therapy. It became so stressful that he developed a heart disease and had frequent suicidal thoughts. I have many other friends who have had suicidal thoughts as a result of Conversion Therapy.

Please, for the sake of the lives of our youth, consider banning Conversion Therapy.

The right for a young person to live is more valuable that an organization's right to counsel a young person because they believe being gay is a sin.

The right for a young person to live is more valuable than giving parents the option to send them to this therapy.

The right for a young person to live is more valuable than any other argument against banning Conversion Therapy.
