Conversion therapy is unethical, harmful, traumatic, and a waste of money and time. Speak to any number of survivors who can attest to this. If it must come to pass that this practice must exist in the state of Virginia then parents should not have complete power in this decision, the minor must be able to willfully consent to it as well, without being pressured or coerced. As there is no foolproof way to ascertain how legitimate consent is given, the proper response is to ban conversion therapy altogether.

Please, please research the real and true effects of conversion therapy and the life-long, damaging effects that come with it. Forcing your child to be what you want them to be through such an inhumane practice is blatantly abuse.
