Conversion Therapy Is Dangerous

My conversion therapist is based in Virginia and I remember I was wanting to rebuild the relationship that I had with my dad, so I thought this therapist was the best fit. Instead of doing psychotherapy techniques, he made me tell him my sexual thoughts in detail; write them out on a sheet and tell them to him. I used to get into trouble because I did not want to say my sexual thoughts in detail and it made me feel terrible.

These practices when you are told to trust people made me not trust therapists. It heightened my sense of safety and made me feel depressed. I feel that if this practice is continued, you are going to harm the most vulnerable; LGBTQ youth who already struggle with identity issues. Please put a stop to this practice. Lives are at stake.

Thank you,

Matt
