Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

It is amazing that those who claim to support the health of women would be opposed to industry regulations that support that end. In just two years, inspections have exposed 300 health and safety violations at Virginia abortion clinics, including blood splattered exam tables and equipment, unsterilized needles, incomplete lifesaving equipment, violations of Virginia parental consent laws, an absence of reporting of possible cases of child abuse, and many more deficiencies. Yet the violent reaction of the abortion industry to any oversight proves that not womens health, but politics and money are the real ends in view. Planned Parenthood alone is a $1 billion industry. Why would it not spend the money to bring its abortion centers into compliance with these reasonable health and safety standards that support womens health" Women who make the decision to have an abortion should be able to have it done in an environment that meets basic health and safety standards, is clean, where the staff is trained, and where emergencies (which often occur at abortion centers) can be handled appropriately. These health and safety standards ensure that abortion centers meet common sense standards of care to ensure womens health is paramount.I urge the Board of Health to leave in place the abortion regulations.Thank you. Timothy Carr
