Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

I find it appalling that in order to facilitate the death of children, the state of Virginia would ignore all basic cleanliness and health standards required of any other outpatient medical facility. To have your womb sucked out, is invasive, and dangerous. Deadly, for the child. That said, any woman showing up to have this procedure expects the facility to be clean, the abortionist and abortion personnel to have washed all instruments, and hands, and for there to be an emergency plan in place to include the ability to get a stretcher in and out the door quickly, and for the abortionist to have access to a hospital. This is basic. Further a procedure such as abortion, proven to have dire health consequences later - breast health, uterine health, and to impact future pregnancies - should have full disclosure. One cant purchase any basic prescription without a pamphlet warning of every possible ill effect of taking their doctor prescribed anti-biotic, or blood pressure, or cold medicine. One cant have a basic outpatient procedure without being clearly advised of all possible results and signing a waiver that each possibility has been discussed. It is medical malpractice to avoid full disclosure to women facing a crisis pregnancy. Abortion Facilities are vultures hovering over a weak animal in this regard. Rather than provide information, ultrasound images, alternatives and time to think over options, their quota requirements rush and push a desperate and frightened mother into the decision to kill their child leaving them with horrific spiritual, psychological consequences, and statistically proven risks of breast cancer, as well as a compromised reproductive system. If this were any other type of medical treatment the standard practices of abortion facilities would be actionable. Sara Garner
