Burdensome and Unnecessary Requirements Limit Access to Services

TRAP laws harm women's health and limit their reproductive choices. This is about politics, not good medical practice, and certainly not out of any genuine concern for women.

These laws impose medical regulations no other clinics that provide similarly low-risk services need to obey. These regulations go well beyond what other health care providers must follow, while doing little or nothing to improve the outcome of an already safe procedure. It is the complete opposite of good medical policy. The agenda is not to ensure the health and safety of patients but to impose an excessively expensive burden on clinics so that they have no choice but to shut down.

Women have a constitutional right to safely and legally terminate a pregnancy, as affirmed by Roe v. Wade. TRAP laws allow politicians to circumvent those rights in order to further their own personal and political agendas. If there is any concern at all about safeguarding the validity of the Constitution, then these laws must be struck down without delay.
