Uphold Standards

The present regulations are absolutely vital to ensure that all the abortion facilities have clear, uniform, medical guidelines that must be adhered to to protect women coming to them for abortions. The women have every right to expect they will be professionaly treated by qualified, certified physicians and nursing staff in an fully equipped medical facility. They enter these facilities confidently because they trust the State of Virginia Department of Health --as they should.  But without the regulations there is bound to be a slacking off, a gradual lowering of standards.  This is true especially in abortion facilities that are not under close scruting, expecially from the public. If the women do fall into the hands of a less than honorable abortion facility, they really have no recourse. They are too shattered emotionally or possibly dealing with infection due to lax infection prevention techniques.

Any decent health clinic, medical facility of any kind knows that infection prevention techniques, suitable equipment,  available drugs - staff training,  and more,  need detailed regulations to keep them constantly aware of their obligations to the patients.

Much serious consideration by many qualified, knowledgable VDH medical personnel made those regulations.  And they made them solely to ensure  the safety and health of the women.  We need to keep them.
