Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

It is critical that this legislation be enforced. The law must be maintained and the women who decide to have an abortion, though I do feel it is wrong, MUST have the highest level of quality healthcare that current technology can provide for their own safety. These regulations were voted into law by the people of the Commonwealth for the protection of women, not the pocketbooks of some doctors. Please continue to do the job that the voters of Virginia imposed. Without being rude, please do your job and enforce the law. I am sure there are many laws that we have that need to be enforced but for the pressure of a few are not. This is the law of our Commonwealth. Please uphold it. We can continue the debate over whether or not this is a human being at some stage of development, but we should do nothing less than provide the greatest health care possible for the women involved. If we believe in the protocol we find at other healthcare facilities, then these clinics need to stand up and provide that same level of care for their patients. What is good for me in the hospital, ought to be the same level of care I expect at any other facility. If I choose to go to a poor dirty location to have my healthcare, I can only expect the poor dirty results I get. I believe that the voters of Virginia said that was not what they wanted, poor and dirty. They believe in the life of the mother, and some of us the fetus too, but give them a chance to come out alive and well, without having to end up in a professionally run facility via an emergency "complication". Do the right thing. Make all health care live up to the standards the we all know are best for the patient! It could be my daughter, wife, sister and I want them to have the best chance of making a tough time at the very least safe. We are talking about safety. Have we lowered our standards so much that we can send someone to a place we KNOW is not at pare with Department of Health regulations AND Commonwealth law" I hope not. Enforce the law. Glenn Grambo
